I rode to make a difference in the search for a cure and in supporting those impacted by Alzheimer's by teaming up with the UW Initiative to End Alzheimer's where the focus is threefold:
1. Research: Over 5,000 individuals with a family history of the disease are enrolled in studies to help determine what activities, lifestyle choices, diet and other factors could contribute or stave off the disease.
2. Education: The program supports learning opportunities for dementia care professionals and scientists in training, providing care to more than 3,000 patients a year.
3. Seeking Health Equity: The UW builds awareness through community-based research that seeks to build awareness, advocacy and solition to the health disparities facing communities of color.

What can you do?
1. Pass the word to others about the work the UW Initiative is doing. If you are age appropriate and able, consider volunteering for a study. If you are inclined, let others know about the ride and this website.
2. If you are able to donate….know that your contribution goes directly to the UW Initiative. Many on-line charity fundraising sites deduct 7-10% of the donation for administrative and processing fees. I set this website up on the cheap and suggest using the link in blue above so more of your donation goes to research, education and in seeking health equity for Alzheimer's.
3. Prefer to donate directly via check? No problem. Please mail to
UW Foundation
U.S. Bank Lockbox 78807
Milwaukee, WI 53278-0807
Include a note "UW Initiative to End Alzheimer's - Biking4Alz Campaign for David Adam" to ensure the donations are matched by the UW and by my wife and me.
4. Last of all, take time to tell those you love how much they mean to you. Life is short, but sometimes a meaningful life filled with happy memories is even shorter…let’s work to alleviate that risk together through awareness, funding and vocal support for Alzheimer’s research.
Thank you!
